Tricia Chua has it all: A degree in Business Management after graduating Cum Laude. A job as a corporate banker in one of the top local banks in Manila, Philippines. A business based around her expertise in astrology, known as Cosmic Vantage Point. And finally, she’s the go-to gal for product recommendations in her social circles as a self-proclaimed makeup and skincare enthusiast.

Tricia shares her astrology-based business story that started when she was just a teenager reading the monthly horoscope in the daily newspaper. The takeaways from those early readings truly resonated with Tricia and made her wonder more about how astrology could help her, as well as others.

Camille Outside The Box: Tell me a little more about your business. What do you do? How did you get started?

Tricia Chua: Since the lockdown started, I took the time to nurture my creativity and do something I’ve always wanted. Hence, I enrolled in Applied Astrology online. Two weeks after I finished my classes, Cosmic Vantage Point was born.

I created Cosmic Vantage Point to provide resources and guidance in understanding your true essence by taking a closer look at your Astrological chart in a simplified manner to support your journey into a soulful and purposeful life.

Could you explain natal charts and astrology for someone who may not be familiar with those concepts?

Astrology is the study of the planetary movements happening in the sky and how it affects our lives here on Earth. It is a tool for liberation and empowerment. It’s more of a healing art rather than Science in which it’s exact but requires free play and intuition.

A natal (birth) chart is an exact depiction of the planetary placements the moment we were born. It is unique to every individual and it serves as a cosmic blueprint for us to be able to live to our higher calling. This is a tool that provides a holistic view of a person’s being. It includes planets, signs, houses, and all other necessary elements to illustrate a person’s individuality. Learning how to understand astrology equates to understanding the language of the stars. It gives us a different perspective on how we see ourselves and others.

What are the direct benefits of a natal chart reading?

We all have our own strengths and weaknesses that we need to work on in order for us to operate purposefully. The moment we learn how to navigate these points, it gives us the power in knowing what we can change. Think of it as a “cheat sheet” in this game called life. 😉

How does a natal chart relate to an individual’s horoscope?

Horoscope is a type of report based on future planetary movements. Its main objective is to provide predictive energies so we can plan our days ahead by aligning our goals with these placements. Consider it like a weather forecast, but deals with energy.

How can someone actively use astrology for their career and personal development?

There are different key life aspects, including career, found in a natal chart where you can do predictive planning. Once you understand the basic language of reading a chart, you’ll be able to further your knowledge by navigating even the daily movements in the sky.

How do you plan and conduct your career-based natal chart readings?

I plan by gathering all the necessary information to generate a person’s natal chart, which includes birth date, location of birth, and exact time of birth. Given the situation of the world right now, I’m conducting readings via Zoom. I am also planning to offer basic Astrology courses for beginners.

How are people encouraged to better themselves and their career path, following natal chart sessions? What are actions they can take from a natal chart reading?

My hope after every session and this is what I usually tell my clients — it should not stop here, this is only the beginning. Understanding the message of the universe paves way for us to communicate with our higher selves. Since now that you know a lot more of what you need to adjust and/or develop, it is the best time to do the work. Astrology doesn’t give us absolute answers, but it points us toward our destined paths.

What’s the top question people have relating to their career?

The question I get the most is either “What do I need to do in my life?” or “Which career path should I pursue?” I know that these questions are too broad, but once you get to see your chart, you’ll be able to get a good view of the entire picture.

What’s the top question people have relating to personal development or bettering themselves?

Most of my clients cry during sessions and I’m pretty sure it’s tears of joy. Haha! But to reassure you, there’s nothing more validating than having someone, a stranger if you will, explain to you and show you who you are as a person, how you matter, and that you’re connected to something larger. It’s like a reflection of yourself and how you relate to something bigger.

Are there myths about astrology and natal charts that you think are important for us to know?

Yes! And that is your Sun sign is everything you are. You are NOT just your Sun sign. For starters, our Sun sign is based on our date of birth and this is what we usually check in the horoscope section of a magazine, etc. Our Sun sign plays a vital role – it is our will and core being. But it doesn’t describe us as a person alone. There are other signs that we need to be aware of including the Moon sign, which is our emotional landscape, and the Rising sign, which is our personal brand and how we project ourselves to others.

How do you feel about online and social media horoscope postings? Are they all one-size-fits-all? Should people look into them?

Again, there is no such thing as one-sign-fits-all. We need to understand that we all have unique placements. Sure, it’s not bad to look into astrology-related social media posts. Astrology is for everyone to learn. But we shouldn’t limit ourselves, especially our beliefs, to what we read about our signs online. It shouldn’t hinder or affect us in making firm decisions in life.

Are there resources (books, podcasts, videos) that might be helpful for someone who wants to learn more about astrology?

I highly recommend checking Debra Silverman, Rebecca Gordon, Theresa Reed, and Soulshine Astrology for those who are beginning their journey into Astrology. These are my favorite astrologers and I look up to these women with a lot of respect.
